GROWTH HAPPENS IN COMMUNITY
GROUP LIFE AT OASIS
FAQ About GROUP LIFE at OASIS
Life groups are meant to connect people into meaningful Christ centered relationships where people share and do life together. Whether its going through a bible study together, sharing a meal, finding practical application from Sunday’s message, serving together, or simply talking through a topic for the evening, Life Groups are a place where people are loved and cared for in grace filled ways. Here you will experience joy and laughter, make new memories, and care for one another as you grow in your walk with Jesus.
When Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment was, He responded that it was all about loving God and loving people. Jesus invested most of His time into a small group of people. They did life together as a small group. They grew closer together as they learned how to love one another by serving, giving, sharing, and by celebrating God’s movement amongst them. We are created for relationship and the need for each other, this is why we believe life groups are incredibly important.
Most of our groups meet 2 times a month in the leader’s home. We have winter and fall sessions each year, and sessions last around 12 weeks. During the Holidays and Summer time, groups meet more informally and also participate in service projects for the community.
We believe that people must be committed in order to connect in meaningful Christ centered relationship with one another. For this reason, when you first join a group, we ask that you commit for 12 weeks with regular attendance at the group gatherings. After 12 weeks, you have to option to commit long term to the group or go to another group when openings are available.
Groups will decide what they will study unless we are doing a church-wide campaign. Groups typically go through studies on various books of the Bible, marriage, parenting, or a variety of topical book studies. Some groups do a sermon-based study that connects to our Sunday services.
Some groups provide childcare or include them in the group. If your group meets on Wednesday nights, you are welcome to drop your children off at the church for our mid-week children and youth ministries. We recommend that groups not providing childcare set up a co-op. You will discover the groups that provide childcare in the group description.
Just stop by the Oasis welcome center to see a list of groups. You can also fill out the Join A Group form anytime on our website. We will then have someone from our Group Life Team connect you to a group if one is available.
